Q. What is the AARNet Mirror ?
A. You can find out about this at the about page.
Q. What sort of hardware do you use ?
A. We are currently using an Acer R510 with 4 Gigabytes of RAM, 2 3.06Ghz Xeon processors and a gigabit network connection into the AARNet3 backbone.

Additional disk is provided by a Nexsan ATABeast unit with 42 400G drives connected via a fibre channel SAN
Q. What sort of network/bandwidth is available ?
A. Internal bandwidth is provided by gigabit connections into a switch which is directly connected into the core AARNet3 network at 10 gigabits per second around Australia.
Q. Why should I use the AARNet Mirror site ?
A. There are a number of reasons. Firstly, using the AARNet Mirror costs your University less, and that means it costs you less. It also ensures that AARNet will continue offering the service. Finally, chances are it will be a lot quicker to access than overseas sites, since it is located here in Australia.
Q. How do I get an archive added to mirror?
A. Please email mirror@aarnet.edu.au with as much information about the archive and the reason it should be added as you can. Including a contact email address and URL for the archive site would be helpful.
Q. Will you mirror anything ?
A. The charter is to provide local mirrors of archives useful to the AARNet members. This means there is a wide variety of archives that we'd consider. To date, we have concentrated on OpenSource software and specific academic archives as requested by end users.
Q. What won't you mirror ?
A. We cannot mirror content that is illegal to distribute within Australia. If you are aware of such on the mirror, please contact us immediately. We might not be allowed to mirror some content due to copyright issues where permission has been refused.
Q. We're a company that would like to get our commercial software mirrored, how much does it cost ?
A. The AARNet Mirror does not offer a commercial mirroring facility. If you believe your content is of specific interest to our customers, please contact us.
